The day after New Year's Day, 2003, Tammy
and I drove up from our apartment in New York City to Syracuse, New York, where
popular children's author Bruce Coville
(The Unicorn Chronicles, The Magic Shop series, the My Teacher
is an Alien series, etc.) lives. Recently, Bruce started Full Cast Audio, a
company devoted to unabridged audio recordings of popular Young Reader and Young
Adult novels. Unlike most audiobook companies who hire one person to read the
entire book, Full Cast lives up to its name by casting actors to read all the
dialogue, and the author her/himself to narrate the non-dialogue portions.
In addition to his own SONG OF THE WANDERER, THE MONSTER RING and THE MONSTERS OF MORLEY MANOR,
Bruce's company has recorded Paula Danziger's THE UNITED TATES OF AMERICA, Amy
Goldman Koss's THE GIRLS, James Howe's THE MISFITS, Doug Cooney's THE BELOVED
DEARLY, Eleanor Estes's THE MOFFATS - and the first book in Tammy's Circle of
Magic series, SANDRY'S BOOK. We were in Syracuse to record the second and
third Circle... books, TRIS'S BOOK and DAJA'S BOOK (BRIAR'S BOOK is
currently scheduled to be recorded this coming summer).
While we were up there recording (yes, I did some voice acting
as well), I brought along my digital camera to take pictures for the site.
